48TH ASIAN BODYBUILDING AND PHYSIQUE SPORTS
CHAMPIONSHIP & CONGRESS
Brief History of Macao
While most people instantly think of the huge gambling influence that Macau has had on the world, many do not realize that Macau is a city full of history. For those of you who have been to Macau and actually taken in a bit of the Macau culture, you would have noticed the strong European influence across the city, including St Augustine's church and the ruins of St Paul's Cathedral. This is because Macau was the last European territory in continental Asia before it was handed back to China back in 1999. Prior to that, Macau was a colony of Portugal having been so since way back in 1537. The Portuguese influence is still clear but Macau has come into its own since becoming a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China and even more so in recent years.
The Macau Bodybuilding and Fitness Association under the great leadership of President Che Kuong Hon and Ms. Ines Yeung, Chairman of the Organizing Committee bid to host the 48th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships/Congress in Guangzhou, China on a tentative basis in 2012, and thereafter it was confirmed officially at the Congress held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2013.
The Macau Bodybuilding and Fitness Association in collaboration with the Macao Sports Development Board have worked out great program for all officials and athletes during the period from 26th August to 1st September 2014. A sight-seeing tour has been arranged as well for all. The Macau Sports Development Board gave their full cooperation and support to the hosting of 48th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Championships and Congress in Macau.
The three days competition of the pre-judging and finals from 26th August to 1st September 2014 will take place at the Pavilhao Polidesportivo Tap Seac/Tap Seac Multi-Sport Pavilion.
